Terra-Cotta Hand-Made Clocks
New Century Marketing presents a selection of Southwest Clocks made from natural terra-cotta material. These clocks and thermometers are hand-made by two Scottsdale, AZ residents, Marty and Monique Lightner.
The process begins every morning when Marty and Monique, in their studio, start with natural terracotta clay that they form, by hand, into their various designs. The clay then dries, is sanded and fired in a kiln to 1850 degrees for 8 hours, hardening the pieces to an almost indestructible product.
Each piece is an original because no two are exactly the same. Such is the nature of handmade products. Not all are absolutely flawless. Some, to the layman’s eye, might have a teeny imperfection such as an indentation, a slight variation in color or rarely, an odd fingerprint. However, they have a quality and style no machine can duplicate.
They are imprinted and hand painted, individually boxed with battery included. Quartz movement. Color tint may vary from those shown on the website.
